This is super interesting and educational for me having little prior knowledge of outdoor adventuring such as this. Was especially shocked when you mentioned the water filter could effectively last a lifetime, but then I did a little googling and saw how long those things could last. It's pretty dope and made me realize how much more accessible it is than I thought to work up to significant mostly detached from society adventures due to the sick gear we have access to!

Fun read, looking forward to the later posts :)

Are you bringing any basket attachments for your trekking poles? Might be nice to have the big snow baskets for stability when you start post-holing through soft snow. $7 for a pair from REI, not sure if you could pick that up in San Diego. I could always send you mine when you get to the Sierra's. I like the new pack, and I'm eager to hear how you end up liking the quilt/pad setup. Good luck and have fun!

I do actually. Now that I’m packing my stuff for the final time I’m realizing I forgot to include a bunch of stuff in that photo

Gorgeous load out... you could try real silk long sleeve and/or leggings. I'll look back and read your glove choice. What an adventure! Excited for you. - Kenlein

Marg! I will be stopping at towns every week or so and I will be doing laundry then if I deem it necessary. I have 2 pairs of regular underwear and a single pair of long underwear.

How are things in the snowy mountains Adriaan? I’m imagining you getting close to Mt San Jacinto? Hope u are staying warm and safe!

I’ll be headed up to Idyllwild/ San Jacinto this coming week. It’s snowing tomorrow but will be sunny from here on out. There are several bail out points if the conditions aren’t good for hiking. I’m staying very warm so far so I’m not worried about nighttime conditions.
